Join the Greater LA Chapter on June 13 for their monthly IAP2 USA Greater LA Chapter meeting, with special guest speaker and trainer, Victor Abalos.
Victor is the founder and director of NEXT AMERICAN MEDIA MAKERS, which provides the training and experience for digital content storytellers, or “media makers.” Victor has spent his entire professional life helping people tell their stories.
He spent more than 20 years as a print and broadcast journalist working in Central America in the late 80’s covering the wars in El Salvador and Nicaragua then here in this country working as a producer for CBS News, ABC News, Fox News and the MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour. He also worked as a broadcast reporter for TV and radio stations in Los Angeles, Denver and Tucson, Arizona.
Starting in 2007, Victor served as Special Communications Consultant to then-LAUSD Superintendent David L. Brewer. Before that, he served for two and-a-half years as Director of Public Affairs for First 5 LA, a non-profit agency that concentrates on health, education and safety issues for young children.
Victor is a recognized national expert in the communications and outreach field and will train us in this workshop to leverage media to enhance our P2 program effectiveness.
