Join us for this new, comprehensive workshop that combines both beginning and advanced equity courses rolled into one!

This workshop will teach you to utilize an equity lens to recognize and mitigate racism and any other forms of discrimination and oppression in the workforce. Participants will have the chance to discuss their own equity work, its challenges and opportunities. This training touches on intersectionality and how to mitigate detrimental outcomes stemming from any identity (e.g. sexism, xenophobia, ableism, etc.). A scenario will be used for a deeper understanding and application of the implementation of equity.

Session 1: The foundational content is based in racial and ethnicities of color and will cover aspects of developing a common language and understanding of the historical and present-day presence of institutional and systemic racism, and how to begin to address it internally and for stakeholders, including concepts of equity frameworks and tools. Substantial small group work will provide increased opportunities for learning from colleagues through sharing challenges and successes. Additionally, the training touches on intersectionality and addressing equity as related to other marginalized identities in addition to race.

Session 2: This is a more in-depth session on racial equity, and is less content driven than the Foundations session. It utilizes the content knowledge of Foundations to address participants discussing their own equity work, its challenges and opportunities. Intersectionality will also be discussed in greater degree than in Foundations, and a scenario will be used for a deeper understanding and application of the implementation of equity. This session will also cover microaggressions and macro-microaggressions.
