Webinar Description:

Inviting the stories lived experience is a key aspect embedded in our Core Values as public participation practitioners. These core values include seeking out and facilitating the involvement of our communities potentially affected by  or interested in a decision and ensuring that those who will be impacted by a decision has a voice in it. This webinar explores examples of potential partners-- jurisdictions, museums and academia--to help public participation practitioners invite, hold and amplify the stories that need to be heard in shaping change, impact and decisions. These panelists will share how they are lifting important stories and the lessons learned along the way. Panelists are:

  • Rowena Alegria, writer/consultant/speaker and former Chief Storyteller at the former Office of Storytelling, City of Denver
  • Richard Cooper, Ed.D, President and CEO of the Levine Museum of the New South
  • Vickie Larsen, Ph.D. Morningside University's Esther Mackintosh Scholar of the Humanities
  • Cathy Smith, IAP2 USA Licensed Trainer, Moderator

The session will include a reflection on where stories fit in your practice and where partnerships of these kinds could advance your engagement work.
