Nebraska: A Local Network of the Midwest Chapter

In winter 2022/2023, the IAP2 Nebraska Core Team proposed, and the Midwest Chapter Board adopted, a Local Network framework that recognizes and supports smaller communities of practice within the Chapter 12-state footprint.

Through this framework, the Nebraska Core Team intends to continue providing local networking and professional development opportunities. In doing so, the Core Team is looking for additional volunteers.

To date, the commitment for serving on the Core Team has consisted of monthly core team meetings and following through on self-assigned action items. Serving on the Core Team is also a great way to get to know other P2-minded folks in Nebraska.

If you are interested in supporting local networking and expanding awareness of public participation in Nebraska, please contact Andy Wessel.

MIDWEST CONFERENCE IN OMAHA

After two years in the Twin Cities, Omaha will host the IAP2 USA Midwest Conference for the next two years (2024 and 2025).

Typically held in the spring, the conference will be an opportunity to showcase all that Omaha has to offer while allowing P2 practitioners to learn about new techniques, case studies from peer agencies and communities, and locally relevant best practices.

The spring conference is made possible through the collective efforts of volunteers. Conference committee work ranges from programming and logistics to sponsorships and marketing. If you are interested in working with other P2 professionals from across the Midwest to help organize the 2024 conference, contact Andrea Gebhart.
